Wanted! Drums4Fun Volunteers
Now that some of the events that Drums4Fun CIC are providing are expanding to be much larger workshops, we are actively looking for more Drums4Fun Volunteers to help with instrument, lighting and audio set up. This will include a need for a competent sound engineer for our larger events. Volunteering is extremely rewarding and worthwhile. For more information please either email us at drums4fun@outlook.com or call Graham on 07961-716620.

'Beyond the Postcard' - Friday 28 May 2021
The cultural development organisation Feast offered writers, artists, film-makers, dancers and theatre-makers a unique opportunity to work with their communities in order to provide a response to the summit of world leaders in St Ives between 11 and 13 June 2021. Probus writer and lecturer, Dr Alan M. Kent successfully launched a bid to run one of these sessions. The workshop took place on Friday 28th May between 11.30am and 5pm., hosted in a socially-distant and Covid 19 secure way by the team at the Hawkins Arms, Fore Street Probus TR2 4JL.
The workshop examined way of exploring the 'reality' of what it is like to live in Cornwall in the opening decades of the twentieth century, and Alan will encourage and lead participants through the creative writing process, hopefully culminating in your own written work being developed. The idea of the sessions was to collectively delve into what lies 'beyond the postcard' of Cornwall, and to show the leaders that there is more to Cornwall than just lovely views of Godrevy lighthouse. The session was filmed and work developed in the session will be displayed at an exhibition for the G7 leaders and their representatives at the conference. This was a unique chance to put thoughts before them. During the day Graham Kemp Musical Director/Owner of Probus-based Durms4Fun CIC created sound-scapes to read work within using the brand new sound system Soundbeam 6 . Work will be gathered to present as part of the exhibition at Carbis Bay.

Drums4Fun CIC Secures UnLtd COVID-19 Emergency Funding Grant
Drums4Fun CIC are honoured and very relieved to have been awarded an UnLtd COVID-19 Emergency Funding Grant of £7,500. This grant will secure the future of Drums4Fun CIC into 2021, whilst we are not permitted to provide our 'indoor' percussion experience workshops for many groups that have underlying health issues. Without this amazing support we would have found ourselves in a precarious position with very limited income since End March 2020. This award also enables us to purchase all the necessary PPE and social distancing equipment required in order to provide COVID-19 secure workshops, maintaining the health and safety of our customers and volunteers.
